Blenheim is a new spot on West 12th, right next to Dell’ Anima, The Beatrice Inn, and Cafe Cluny. The location is money; and is arguably on one of the best corners in the West Village.

I knew this place recently opened, and had heard amazing things from my friend Eric claiming it was “one of the best meals of the year”.

My friend Andrew came and met me for Sunday brunch and what a treat it was! The interior of the restaurant is very light, airy, and rustic. But we decided to hang outside and people watch.blenheim1

All their food is farm to table and comes from the Blenheim Farm in upstate New York; hence it was unbelievably fresh. You can tell when restaurants use really fresh ingredients. In addition, some of their preparation was among the best I’ve ever seen. To date, their Cream Cheese Panna Cotta desert was the prettiest thing I have ever eaten.

I had the Blenheim scramble which is scrambled eggs, ham, and cream cheese. Delicate and delightful. And of course, I also had a side of bacon, which was nice and crispy.IMG_5602

Andrew said his herb omelet was bomb. Cooked to perfection.

Who doesn’t get desert after brunch? The herb sorbet from their farm was the perfect way to end a nice meal.

We were lucky enough to check out this new coffee and wine bar on the corner of Christopher and Gay Street last week. I’ve always admired this building; from the large antique front doors to the floor to ceiling windows, this new coffee shop deserves all the praise its been getting.941966_434206250020966_1090863680_n

Unlike some other pretentious local coffee shops, you feel comfortable and at home here. Whynot encompasses a very easy breezy Parisian vibe, which I find refreshing for the area. It is decorated impeccably, with large murals of French actresses on the walls, most notably Brigitte Bardot, painted by NY artist Jeremy Penn.

We had the pleasure of enjoying some fabulous wine and cheese with the owner Emil, who explained that his goal was not just to open a coffee and wine shop, but to create an experience.

Musicians come in on many occasions to play live Jazz which can be enjoyed on the oversized comfy couch in the back. The record player/keyboard setup is just another treat to keep ones self entertained. music

By the way, one of my favorite albums by Beach House was playing…on vinyl…very cool.

Whynot sells Blue Bottle Coffee, which is outstanding. We had 2 regular coffees and a prosciutto and provolone croissant, a goat cheese with wild berry croissant, and the charcuterie. charcutIMG_2741

Pop in for a coffee, try the croissants, check out the vinyl selection.  Come late night and listen to the live music. I think you will see why I find this place to be the best new coffee shop in the West Village.

Classy, refined, and farm fresh is how I would define this tasteful West Village Restaurant.

This American Tavern has a nice buzz to the air, catering to a bit of an older, sophisticated crowd. The open doors and windows adds to the pleasant ambiance.

Oh, and the food rocked. This was a special salmon salad with Asparagus, Ricotta cheese and a light lemon dressing…delectable.

IMG_1199The iron roasted split chicken, with risotto-pecorino cake was out of this world.

The pappardelle with soft shell crab was cooked perfectly. Very well made; unique dish.

The Mongolian dumplings with soy, lime & scallion were delicious.left bank dumpling

Loved the maple syrup pie and brownie sundae.

This cute little high-end Mexican restaurant has delicious food, awesome guacamole and great outdoor seating. People rave about their brunch and happy hours; I rave about their Tequila’s.

The margaritas were solid and the tequila menu is deep and plentiful.

I had the roasted jumbo shrimp with angel hair pasta, pulla pepper and mussel sauce which was really nice. And roasted rack of lamb, garlic mashed potatoes, grilled shiitake mushrooms and radish chimichurri.

The Chilaquiles con huevos were amazing!(tortillas with Oaxaca cheese, tomatillo chipotle salsa and sautéed onions, with sunny side up eggs).

l

Very unique sides like grilled cactus pad and serrano chili sauce keep this little place innovative and fun! Buen Fin De Semana!!!

Great cuban food, strong mojitos, live music, and empanadas is all you need for a fun night out with some friends. I’ve been here a few times and am always greeted with a warm welcome. I wish all restaurants were this friendly.

The ambiance is perfect, with dim lighting and colorful traditional paintings on the walls.

We had the beef empanadas which were outrageous.

I had The Pollo A La Maggie, which is chicken breasts, plantains, mozzarella cheese, mushrooms, zucchini, in a white wine sauce. This is among the best chicken dishes I’ve come across. I will get this every time I come.

All in all, come to this place! Its fun and lively, and you will definitely have a good time.
