Excellent neighborhood spot. Among the freshest Italian I’ve recently had. Did I mention dollar they had DOLLAR OYSTERS on Mondays !!!! Not sure if it is a regular Monday thing, but we had a dozen oysters and 2 special pastas for less than 30$ each.

I’m told the chef only speaks Italian-this makes it Authentic in my book.

My friend Justin and I ordered a few pasta’s and picked the perfect dishes. The rock shrimp zucchini with fettuccine was cooked to perfection. The tomatoes and basil made it a nice summer dish.

The crab meat spaghetti with lemon sauce was also killer.

Overall, was very impressed.

This place is just fantastic. It’s not a stuffy expensive Italian restaurant, it’s a quality place, reasonably priced, and has great outdoor seating. The best Chicken Parm I’ve found in the West Village…With a price tag of $14 including pasta, this place is a great bang for the buck.

Last night I had the Chicken Contadina with sweet peppers, onions, potatoes and sausage…it was outrageous.

My buddy Dave got the Grilled Salmon which was perfectly prepared. I find that most restaurants mess up fish, which is why I rarely order fish.

I split the Penne Arabiata pasta with marinara sauce & peperoncino. Nice and spicy.

We drank a $20 bottle of Rosso de Montepulciano. Total bill was $90 bux, and we ate and drank like kings. You can easily have dinner here for $25-$30 per person.

I was craving chicken Milanese the other day. Too lazy to leave my apt, I typed it into google, read the reviews of a few local restaurants, and picked Mappamondo….what a great choice. Super easy ordering from them and that place is spot on. I also ordered the Cheese Tortellini with cream sauce…outstanding!

I think I have a new favorite Italian Place 🙂

48 Gansevoort Street       http://www.macelleria.com

A great choice for steaks and chops right on the border of the meatpacking district.  The veal chops, clams oreganato and porterhouses are seasoned just enough to taste perfect! Coupled with an extensive wine list, this rustic italian chophouse with casual atmosphere will never steer you wrong.
