Landbrot Bakery and Bar 137 7th Ave South
So this place just opened up and has a very cool inviting vibe. This German style bakery has everything you need; cold beer (bier) on tap, ham and cheese croissants, sausages, and pretzels. They also have a full dinner menu.
The sesame pretzel was awesome, and the 3 kinds of mustard they give you, rocks. One spicy, one regular, and one honey mustard.
The food and bakery nick nacks are great, but the service was a little off, and it seems like they have to tighten up a bit. All in all, best pretzel in the West Village.
I’ve been to Landbrot for breakfast and for beer (not at the same time ;). I like the atmosphere, the choices of pastry, and the tap beer selection. I wish they would let you order and sit yourself down rather than waitress service because it is a bit odd. Our coffees were ready (we could see them) and there were workers milling about but until a “specific” worker passed by for them, they just sat there even though we asked! Late nights at the bar are cool though. Landbrot has some pretzel competition though with Lederhosen right nearby on Grove Street.
Their wholesome bread is awesome as well, but more as a special treat since it is a bit expensive for my current budget. 🙂
