Boy is this place fun, once you get a table. This little Mexican restaurant is jammed packed with people waiting for tables. The margaritas are strong strong strong. It was 8 of us and I think we had 4 or 5 pitchers of deliciousness.
The atmosphere is that of a buzzing, authentic Mexican restaurant with cool artifacts and pictures and trinkets all over the place. The music is loud, I think there was even a dj or mc. At this place, it’s about more than the food; it’s about the fun. It was Ian’s girlfriend Ally’s birthday, as well as a few others in the restaurant, so they had a chugging contest, and then rounds of shots afterwords. Like I said, this place is fun.
The tacos, chips, and enchiladas were all good, and we were stuffed. Needless to say, we did not make it out after our dinner/binge drinking. Cant wait to go back.
Ian Says…”Tortilla Flats is one of the most “talked about” mexican spots in the city. I’ve heard people mention it a million times but never could get a reservation and didn’t want to deal with the put your name down and wait an hour type deal. Now that I’ve bit the bullet and got in, i can say its 100% worth it. It’s just fun from the second you grab a drink at the bar waiting for your table.
It’s rare that a cool spot in the West Village makes you feel like you’re in college again (in a good way). The place is known for the party vibe so everyone there is in big groups and often celebrating something so there’s just a happy feeling all around. And the manager/MC of the evening gets everyone involved in the fun so beware you shy folks.
The pitchers of Margaritas are the move (and super cheap!) so the food will be amazing by the time eat since you should be wasted.
Have fun everyone and make sure you mention you heard about them from WestVillageFood.com for a free shot (talk to Wade for that pictured here below with us 😉
We were just at Tortilla Flats this afternoon! We had a friend visiting from Amsterdam and he wanted Mexican so what better place than TF’s. The margueritas were tempting but the ice cold coronas won out. Wish we’d known about the free shots but we’ll mention the blog next time. Quesadillas, Carne Asada and chimichanga were all tasty but you visit TF for the experience 😉
Came here with a date last night. Even though it was not packed the vibe here is awesome. Mentioned the WVF crew to Wade behind the bar and voila….tequila shots start flowing. He’s leaving on Nov. 4 so stop in mention WVF for a shot and a some good clean fun!
